New international companies will establish regional headquarters in Panama
Six new international companies will establish their regional headquarters in Panama, with a direct investment in their first year of operation under the SEM (Multinational Company Headquarters) regime of more than four million dollars and the creation of 200 jobs. These new international companies are engaged in trade, transport and logistics, audits and real estate services.
The new SEMs are the consortia: Athens PVT Limited (owner of department stores Alis), Elite Flower Group (producers and marketers of flowers, plants and fruits) Grünenthal Pharma GmbH & Co. Kommanditgesellschaft (marketing and distribution of pharmaceutical products), Svitzer (world leader in towing services for ports and terminals – an independent company of the Maersk group), Ernst & Young (audit, tax, consulting and advisory services) and Grupo Roble (Multiplaza Mall).
With these new international companies, nineteen add up to the number of international companies that in this year 2017 have chosen Panama as the headquarters for their regional operations. In the ten years of Law 41, the SEM companies have invested more than $ 1,000 million dollars in Panama and have generated an average of six thousand jobs.
The new SEM licenses approved are the result of the promotion of the benefits of this special regime, led by the Minister of Commerce and Industries, promoting the competitive advantages of Panama, such as its geographic location, economic stability, banking strength, legal security, logistic services, among others.
