Direct flights to Panama from China will start in March 2018
Juan Carlos Varela, president of Panama, announced that as of March 2018, Air China will have 2 direct weekly flights from Beijing to Panama with a technical stop in Houston, United States.
The airline confirmed that it will establish offices in Panama, which will generate new jobs for Panamanians.
This new commercial route that was established through an aviation agreement signed by Panamanian Vice President and Foreign Minister Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado and the Civil Aviation Administrator of China, Feng Zhenglin, creates the basis for any designated airline to conclude agreements of cooperative marketing.
The statement from the Panamanian Government highlighted “The commercial and tourist exchange that both nations (China and Panama) propose will be strengthened”
This agreement is in addition to the 20 agreements reached between the Panamanian and Chinese authorities during Varela’s visit together with an official delegation in China.
Varela, accompanied by Vice President and Minister of Foreign Affairs Isabel de Saint Malo de Alvarado, met with representatives of Air China and the other three major airlines (China Eastern, China Southern and Hainan Airlines) to coordinate the implementation of the practice of the aforementioned bilateral air links agreement.
The Ministers of Commerce (Augusto Arosemena) and Tourism (Gustavo Him), and the President of Copa Airlines, Stanley Motta, among other Panamanian authorities, also participated in the meeting.
