IFF Panama 2017 announces Lineup
The sixth edition of the International Film Festival of Panama (IFFP) will be held from March 30 to April 5 in Panama City. For this year this festival brings a Central American and Caribbean show that reaffirms the commitment to serve as the main platform of emerging cinema in the region.
The IFF has already announced the films that will be part of its “Stories of Central America and the Caribbean”, including two world premieres. Among the 10 films that make up this section, you will find the world premieres of Panamanian films “Cimarronaje en Panamá” by Tashi Sakai and “La Matamoros” by Delfina Vidal. Likewise, the main participation of the Dominican film “Carpinteros”, by the director José María Cabral, who will be in charge of closing the festival.
‘Carpinteros’ is the latest film by the Dominican director José María Cabral, will close the festival. It will be attended by the director and his two main actors: Judith Rodriguez and Jean Jean. In addition to presenting himself as an actor, Jean Jean brings a documentary he made about his mother, ‘Si Dios quiere, Yuli’, which will also be screened in IFF Panama’s halls.
These projections are very important in IFF Panama for the strengthening of the national film industry, as they have the opportunity to be seen by members of the worldwide industry as directors, producers, sales agents and distributors who meet in Panama in every edition of the festival. This festival has become an integral part of cultural life in Panama City.
For a country like Panama, a film festival represents a unique exhibition platform and a cultural tourist destination. With the celebration of IFF Panama 2017 is expected an increase in the local economy of occupancy of hotels, restaurants, excursions, shopping and other tourist services.
