WALMART, A MULTINATIONAL COMPANY COULD SETTLE IN PANAMA
Panama has become an attractive site for the installation of multinational companies, such as Walmart, for its dual platform for business. Nestle in Panama recently announced its expansion in the country and the installation of a shopping center for the region. Walmart does not want to be left behind, and it seems that there is much in discussion to make it happen.
Executives Colon Free Zone, are trying an approach to attract the Walmart company to install its distribution center for Latin America on Panamanian territory. For Walmart to decide to install its offices in the country, Panama needs to convince them of the advantages of using the Free Zone as a center for collection and distribution of their goods from the United States and Asia.
Walmart has no operations in Panama, but the company has an extraordinary logistical infrastructure. Within its portfolio of products, there are a lot of products that are imported from various production centers in China and other Asian countries before being distributed to the United States, Mexico and Central America, an operation in which the Panamanian logistics center and the Colon Free Zone can offer competitive advantages that can translate into significant savings.
